Name: Carol Rame Specializes in: Wedding Planning and Design Location: Located in Waterdown-serving Toronto through to Niagara Website: www.carolrame.ca Years in Business: 3
Biography:
After having my daughter and my son, I dreaded going back to work to my corporate job as a Quality Assurance Specialist-I felt stifled, with no outlet for my creativity to shine. Suddenly sitting behind a computer for 8 hours a day was not so exciting. That same year I faced some life altering circumstances-I lost a few people who were very close to me. I had my “a-ha” moment, when realized I could help others, and let my creativity shine through. Life is sweet, and we have many moments in it that we need to celebrate-the best we can, and surrounded by those we truly cherish most. I`ve always sort of envied my husband, since he has a job he totally loves (he’s a Chef), so I always wished that there was a job that fit me and my personality and creativeness. For years I have been planning large scale parties (I come from a very large family-so there is always something going on). I`ve also been told that I have a good flare for decorating-mostly interior. I decided to combine these skills with my absolute love of weddings. That is when Carol Rame Weddings was born, over 3 years ago. Since then, I haven’t stopped helping brides and making their weddings the best they can be.
My Why:
It wasn’t that long ago that I myself was a bride-I remember feeling run-down, and not at all ready for the stress that accompanied the planning, and trying to please everyone, budgeting and staying up all hours of the night! I did end up having an awesome day, but the work leading up to it was exhausting me! This is why my main focus is on Weddings, and helping brides as much as possible. You only get one day, one chance to get it right, not think back on the “woulda, shoulda, couldas”.
My Advice for Couples
Tons-LOL! But I will keep it to a minimum
Make sure you find a Planner who “gets” your vision and who you absolutely feel comfortable with. You are trusting the Planner you have hired with your most important day. Go with your gut. Ask for testimonials, and to see their portfolio etc. Don’t just go on budget alone- the wedding business is the same as any other business-you get what you pay for. I would also advise a newly engaged couple to enjoy in this process-it can be fun, and doesn’t have to be stressful and it goes by so quickly! Lastly, never forget the reasons you decided to get married in the first place. Too many couples can get caught up in the “planning” of the wedding and forget that they are actually entering into a marriage.
